You would put these on the same way you would insert regular contact lenses. If you have never worn contacts before, we recommend that you consult with your eye doctor first to be fitted. They will also show you how to care for and insert them properly.

No, they are not weighted. It sounds like you have an astigmatism, so that is what is causing the lenses to rotate on your eyes. We don’t recommend any of the cat eye type designs for people with astigmatism.

are the cat eyes weighted? so they stay positioned right? i had a pair when they first came public, i dont remember who made them, but they kept turning and looking stupid,

they are just like wearing non prescription eyeglasses, they dont affect you vision at all unless you get a prescribed pair, the part over the pupil is clear, so it wont distort colors either, hollywood uses contacts all the time, do you think famous actors would risk their vision?

Yes, even the scleral (full eye) special effects lenses are safe. They do certainly feel different than regular contact lenses, though, and can’t be worn for as long.

All of our special effects lenses are FDA approved. We recommend that you see your eye doctor to be fitted for any new contact lens brand to ensure that you will be able to wear them safely and comfortably.

Yes, the middle of the lenses are clear so that you can see through them.

  23. Comment by CoastalContacts on January 19, 2010 10:21 am

Yes, all of our special effects lenses are FDA approved, theatrical quality lenses. If worn and cared for correctly, they are as safe as any other colored contact lens.

    omfg are these safe?

  25. Comment by CoastalContacts on January 19, 2010 11:26 am

Unfortunately, we do not carry mirrored or reflective contacts. It may be possible to have them custom made, but they would be “no vision” lenses, which means that you would not be able to see through them. It would really only be suitable for photoshoots, etc.
